In 2006, Ticonderoga adopted a revised Comprehensive Plan focused on revitalizing the town’s hamlet, supporting tourism efforts and promoting the town’s role as a regional center. With funding through a Quality Communities Grant from the New York State Department of State, the town is now working to revise and modernize its zoning law to implement the goals and policies outlined in the 2006 Plan. Ticonderoga has formed an ad hoc committee to oversee this project, which is expected to be complete in 2010.
The committee encourages interested residents, business owners and land owners to stay informed and become involved in the effort to revise the town's land use regulations.

With its work completed on the revised Town Plan, the
Planning Commission has turned its attention to revising the section of
Bristol’s Zoning Regulations that deals with extraction of earth
resources. The Planning Commission has been reviewing and taking comment on proposed regulations since May. The goal is to have a draft regulation on extraction to
bring to the voters, in addition to the revised Town Plan, at March's
Town Meeting.

Hartford is currently preparing an updated Comprehensive Plan for the town. By outlining our vision for Hartford, and strategies for achieving that vision, our plan will continue to be a foundation for any policies and actions that we, as residents, want the town to implement in the future. The planning process typically involves three steps: understanding where we are now; deciding where we want to go; and choosing how we get from here to there.
For the plan to be a useful and valuable
resource, it is imperative that the public participate in this process. Otherwise, the town has no means of knowing what
type and direction of change is wanted by residents, and what resources
should be preserved and protected from change.
